Are Professional Skin Care Products Worth the Price?

For some people over the counter beauty products just won’t do the trick. In many cases you will find that results are not as great as the label leads you to believe. If you would like to achieve the amazing results that many of us crave then it might be time o start using a professional skin care line.

This means using the kind of products that would be used in beauty salon if you went in for a facial or spa treatment. Beauty therapists usually know the tricks and trades and have access to amazing professional skin care products that are not available at the average drugstore.

Expense

A major drawback of using a professional skin care product is that it is often very expensive in comparison to the products you would buy at your local pharmacy. So is it worth it to shell out your hard earned cash? It really depends on how you look at it.

Professional skin care regimes are expensive but they will often last you for quite a long time and when you take into account how long you can use a face cream or serum the price actually doesn’t seem that high.

If you are unsure on whether you should spend a lot of money on a new product try and buy a smaller sample version of the product you would like and see how it works for you. Once you have decided that a specific professional skin care range is perfect for you then go ahead and splurge.

Sensitive and Problematic Skin

Sensitive and problem skin is often hard to care for. If you find that even when you are older and still find yourself breaking out with zits then it might be a good idea to turn to professional skin care products.

Dry or oily skin can also be difficult to care for. If you find yourself unsuccessfully trying to combat the signs of aging with regular generic cosmetics then using professional skin care ranges can really turn things around.

This is because certain ingredients that are not found in typical anti aging creams and potions are used. These products might also be prescribed by a dermatologist but do not need a dermatologist to approve them for you to buy them.

For advice on the best professional skin care ranges for your skin you should visit a dermatologist or beauty therapist and have them access your skin. What works on a friend or colleague may not be good for your skin. So keep in mind what your skin is like and what has worked and not worked in the past for you.

Did You Know that Facial Skin Care Treatments Depend on Your Skin Type?

The market is full of facial skin care treatments of all types. How do you know what will be suitable for you and which magic formula will make your skin look the best? If you are a total novice in skin beauty care, you will be totally stumped by the choices you find in the market. There are hundreds of products out there – it would be very difficult to decide what would be the right one for you.

Facial Skin Care Treatments will Depend on Your Skin Type

The first thing you should find out is what skin type you have.  There are three types of skin – oily skin, dry skin and normal skin. A fourth type is also there, which is a mixture of both oily and dry skin. In this case the skin around the nose and the length of the forehead is oily; more commonly referred to as the T-zone. The rest of the face would be dry in this type of skin type. This mixed type of face is quite difficult to take care of since you have to mix the professional skin care of two types of skin.

Basic facial skin care treatments usually involve cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturizing. The cleansing is done with a soap-free cleanser which will clean the dirt while the exfoliating will remove the dead cells from the face. Sometimes, the cleanser and exfoliator are both rolled into one. After cleaning the face, a toning lotion is applied which strengthens the skin, followed by a rich moisturizer.

Facial skin care treatments for dry skin would require a lot more moisturizer and night replenishment creams to keep the skin hydrated and supple as dry skin is highly prone to wrinkles because of loss of moisture and oil. Hence, this type of skin will require more care to keep it healthy and youthful.

Oily skin usually leaves the face looking greasy. The facial skin care treatments for this type of skin is different from that of dry skin. Here the emphasis is on removing the oil and letting the skin breathe. Here after the cleansing, an astringent needs to be used which will close the pores and reduce the production of oil. The advantage of this skin type is that because of its oily quality it will not get easily wrinkled.

As age advances, special products pertinent to the type of skin you have would be advisable. However, facial skin care treatments should always be complemented by a healthy diet and plenty of water.
